Erin Armstrong became the newest PhD alumna of the E.W. School of Journalism at the spring 2014 commencement.
Last fall, under the direction of committee chair Bernhard Debatin, Erin finished and successfully defended her dissertation on the usage of social media in the 2008 presidential campaign.
Her dissertation, titled Campaign 2.0: Exploring a New Type of Public Sphere in the 2008 Presidential Election, applies framing and public relations strategy to how the 2008 presidential candidates represented race, gender, and age to diverse online publics.
She has been working as a lecturer for the Ohio State University-Marion.
She teaches persuasive communication, communication theory, the history of communication, and public speaking. During her time at Ohio University, she was a Scripps Howard Teaching Fellow.
