PhD students Burton Speakman, Nick Hirshon have papers accepted for AEJMC Midwestern

E.W. Scripps School of Journalism PhD student Burton Speakman had two papers accepted for presentation at the Midwinter Conference of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. They are:

  • Communication Technology Division. “Interactivity and Political Communication: New Media Tools and Their Impact on Public Political Communication.” The paper focuses on how people interact with political communication online.
  • Mass Communication & Society Division. “Quieting the Middle Class: The Changing Spiral of Silence Online.” The paper examines people’s willingness to comment online and considers community types, minority groups and incomes levels.

In addition, PhD student Nicholas Hirshon has had a paper accepted by the Critical Cultural Studies division. The paper “Social Identity Theory in Sports Media Research: Basking in the Reflected Glory of a Productive Scholarly Research.”
