Political writer needed at The Associated Press
The Associated Press is seeking a Southeast Political Writer for its Atlanta bureau.
The immediate assignment for this journalist will be taking the lead on coverage of the presidential campaign in how it is playing out in a pivotal region of the United States. This person will produce distinctive and competitive stories that uncover news and capture key national political trends. In non-presidential years, the journalist’s focus will be to aggressively report spot and enterprise political news, across formats, and drive state and national political coverage from his or her base in Georgia.
The position places a premium on accountability and investigative reporting for a state, regional, national and global audience. The successful candidate will report to the news editor in Georgia and work with other AP staff in Washington, D.C., the AP’s South regional operation in Atlanta and with others.
