Columbus Business First seeks general assignment reporter
Columbus Business First seeks a business reporter to provide general assignment coverage for its daily online and weekly print editions. Candidates should thrive on hard news coverage and enterprise reporting, and be at ease using social networking as a news delivery and reporting tool.
Duties: Assignments range from spot news to blogging to analysis to trend reporting to looks at the people behind the news. A premium is put on news that is exclusive to Business First.
Skills: Candidates must be adept at getting past the PR wall to decision-makers inside companies and business organizations. Must feel comfortable interviewing the range of business players, from C-level executives to entrepreneurs. Must have ability to write clear and compelling copy under deadline pressure. Balanced, accurate reporting is a must.
Experience: At least two years of general or business newspaper reporting experience preferred, but will consider recent college graduates with a portfolio that demonstrates solid reporting and writing skills.
