<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), part of the National Institutes of Health, is looking for an energetic student interested in biology and science communications to join its team this summer.</p>

<p>
The main NIH campus is in Bethesda, Maryland, just a few miles outside of Washington, DC. The hourly rate starts at $22 and depends on education and experience. The internship lasts at least 3 months.</p>

<p>
RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>

You’ll cover cutting-edge research in cell biology, biophysics, genetics, developmental biology, pharmacology, physiology, biological chemistry, bioinformatics and computational biology. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering fast, unbiased news from every corner of the world to all media platforms and formats. Founded in 1846, AP today is the largest and most trusted source of independent news and information. On any given day, more than half the world's population sees news from AP.</p>

<p>
The AP business, news and technology internship programs will resume in June and last 12 weeks. The programs will offer a total of 38 internships, each lasting 12 weeks.</p>

<p>
The programs were put on a one-year hold last year as AP reviewed them to make sure they were as economically efficient and effective as possible. Details about how to apply and related information will be posted later this month on AP’s corporate site (below).</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For more than three decades The Nation Institute, in conjunction with The Nation magazine, has provided an internship program for college students and recent graduates interested in magazine journalism and publishing.</p>

<p>
DESCRIPTION:</p>

<p>
The internship is full time, from 10 am to 6 pm, five days a week. The Summer 2012 session begins June 5 and ends August 17. There are ten intern positions (nine in New York, including the two web interns, and one in Washington D.C.). There is a $150/week stipend.</p>

<p>
RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>

<p>
This internship program offers seven editorial internship positions in New York City; these interns' primary responsibilities are fact checking and research. Two additional interns work as web editorial interns. One additional editorial internship position is available in The Nation's Washington D.C. office.</p>

<p>
All interns have the opportunity to write for TheNation.com; participate in career seminars with journalists, politicians, and activists; in addition to performing some administrative work.</p>

QUALIFICATIONS:</p>

<p>
Applicants must have completed their junior year of college. Each applicant will be evaluated on the basis of his or her cover letter, résumé, recommendations, and writing samples.</p>

A fierce advocate of free speech and accuracy in the media, Seifert had more than 4,600 letters-to-the-editor published in his lifetime. In addition, Seifert was devoted to the academic preparation and professional success of his students. </p>

Throughout his life, Seifert touched the lives of countless young professionals, challenging them to sharpen their critical faculties and their communication skills. The Founder’s Award seeks to carry on his legacy by offering students an opportunity to work with public relations professionals dedicated to mentoring and professional growth.</p>

The magazine is currently offering a part-time, six-month internship (January - June) for enthusiastic and experienced candidates interested in learning about the magazine industry through first-hand experience. College credit is available.</p>

RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>

This internship is an independent, at-home experience. Oregon Bride interns do not work at the Tiger Oak offices; the internship is based from the intern’s home office, on location at photo shoots, at various bridal functions and events, and in frequent meetings with the editors in person, via email and telephone conferences. </p>

Duties will be varied: you'll be researching stories, interviewing contacts, writing articles, assisting on photo shoots, blogging and more. Do well, and you might get your foot in the door at Tiger Oak Publications!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Chick-fil-A Bowl is seeking candidates to fill four paid internships for the 2012 college football season. The internship period begins June 25, 2012 and concludes January 31, 2013. Each position pays a stipend of $1,260.00 per month. Please note that housing is not provided by the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Interested candidates will be applying for internships in the following concentration areas: Communications/Public Relations Sales &amp; Ticketing Event Management (2 total positions)</p>

DESCRIPTION:</p>

<p>
This year’s group of interns will help plan and execute two Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games featuring the University of Tennessee versus North Carolina State University and Auburn University versus Clemson University. Interns will also play a vital role in the planning and execution of the 45th Chick-fil-A Bowl. Interns are assigned to a specific concentration area but are expected to provide support to all areas of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and Chick-fil-A Bowl during the internship. </p>

<p>
The goal of the program is to:</p>

<p>
1. Provide each intern with the opportunity to learn more about his/her area of concentration.<br>2. Allow each intern opportunities to gain valuable experience outside of his/her area of concentration by working on various key tasks for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and Chick-fil-A Bowl.<br>3. Provide each intern the opportunity to prove his or her abilities with important assignments during the course of the internship.</p>

<p>
QUALIFICATIONS:</p>

<p>
Qualified applicants should be sports-minded, self-motivators who are willing to accept the long hours and hard work required to succeed in the sports industry. Additionally, qualified applicants should be committed to pursuing a career in the business of athletics.</p>

<p>
Other position requirements:<br>1. Must be able to commit to working a minimum of 40 hours per week at the Chick-fil-A Bowl office in Atlanta, GA from June 2012 through January 2013. Work hours will be required on holidays and weekends.<br>2. Should possess or be working towards an undergraduate degree. A post graduate/masters degree in an applicable field (Sport Management, Sport Administration, Marketing, Communications, MBA, etc) is not required but highly recommended.<br>3. The ability to work well individually and as a team member in a fast-paced work environment.<br>4. Must be able to handle pressure and take initiative.<br>5. Must have high attention to detail, and the ability to organize and complete a diverse set of tasks in a timely manner.<br>6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.<br>7. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and other applicable computer programs.<br>8. Display a willingness to learn and complete tasks regardless of their nature.<br>9. Knowledge of college football and the bowl system.</p>

<p>
Create media and perform digital outreach related to the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. Intern will specialize in the following fields: Social Media/Online Communications, Interpretive Writing, Graphic Design, Research, Photography, and other duties as assigned. Interest in the American Civil War is a must. </p>

<p>
RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>

<p>
Intern will be responsible for researching primary historical resources in order to write and create scholarly and professional content for a variety of web, social media, and print outlets related to National Park Service efforts to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. </p>

<p>
The intern will also generate print ready files utilizing the Adobe Suite of products to create magazines, brochures, and various signs to support special events and programs. Photography and video experience is a plus. </p>

<p>
QUALIFICATIONS:</p>

<p>
Candidate will have a strong work ethic, will be able to follow directions, will be required to work under very tight deadlines, and will be required to work long hours during special events. Interest in the American Civil War is a must. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents Association is now accepting applications for its 2012 summer internship program at the state Capitol in Harrisburg, Pa.</p>

<p>
DESCRIPTION:</p>

<p>
The program runs for 12 weeks and interns spend two-week rotations working for six newsroom organizations: the Allentown Morning Call, Philadelphia Inquirer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Harrisburg Patriot-News, and Capitolwire.com. During those rotations, interns will have the opportunity to help cover the state budget process, committee hearings, and various political and policy issues as they arise.</p>

<p>
Pay is $500/week. Interns are expected to use their own laptop and cell phone – a small stipend will be provided to help cover cell-phone costs.</p>

<p>
QUALIFICATIONS:</p>

<p>
Applicants should be college juniors, seniors, graduate students, or recent graduates. In certain circumstances, the company has accepted sophomores with previous newsroom experience. Start dates are flexible, depending on when a student’s semester ends, but those selected as interns will be expected to complete the entire 12-week rotation.</p>

Preference is given to students who plan to pursue a career in political journalism. But former interns have gone on to cover a wide array of beats across different media.</p>

Digital fellows will be immersed in blogging, photography, video, audio and social media and will produce original, reported material for Village Voice online publications. Program instructors wil include top Cronkite faculty as well as the nation's leading news, music and food writes from the Village Voice family of websites and newspapers.</p>

Guardian News &amp; Media is the publisher of the award-winning Guardian and Observer newspapers and the guardian.co.uk and guardiannews.com websites, which have 60m unique users a month. Guardian US is committed to ground-breaking journalism – last year’s highlights included the investigation of phone hacking in the British press and interactive coverage of the Arab Spring.</p>

Guardian US is currently seeking interns for January-March and April-June, to work in the New York office. Applicants should be students on post-graduate journalism courses or recent graduates looking for a career in journalism. You should have experience writing for an online publication, experience of using social media and good editorial judgment.</p>

Term time internships run for 10 weeks in January, April and September. They are 20 hours/week and pay $250/week. Vacation internships run for 10 weeks in the summer. They are 40 hours/week and pay $500/week.  </p>

Inland Empire Weekly offers part-time internships year round to students who can commit at least two days a week. Must be available to come into the office and must have previous journalism experience.</p>

As an intern, you will be working with three publications and handling a range of writing assignments from briefs to calendar listings with a chance to earn paid assignments for both print and Web editions.</p>

<p>
Relocation costs are not covered. Those interested in relocating for this internship must do so on their own terms. We do not help with relocation.</p>
